Boston Orthodox Choir
Are you a singer? Do you love Byzantine, Georgian, or Kievan Chant? Do you want to join a group of dedicated singers, intent on exploring the rich musical traditions of the Orthodox Church? (Hint: the correct answer is YES!)
Ian Abodeely and other young adults from the Telos Center are starting the Boston Orthodox Choir! Auditions will be held 1/17-1/18 (don’t sweat this part, we just need to hear people’s range and if they can match pitch), with regular practices starting in February once we coordinate people’s schedules. If one of the times does not work for you, contact us at teloscentercambridge@ crossroadinstitute.org and we will arrange a separate time!
Everyone is welcome to try out. This choir will learn, sing, and explore all sorts of music from the Orthodox Church, from Byzantine chant to Rachmaninoff to Georgian hymns, with the intent of putting on a concert sometime in late April. The Orthodox Church has so much beautiful music, and this choir will try to explore it all!
