Summer of Theology: The Beauty of Diligence

Our next speaker for Summer of Theology will be given by Fr Vassilios Bebis, rector of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the home of the Telos Center! His extensive educational background, which includes a doctorate in Church and Dogma History, paired with his knowledge of ancient and modern Greek will help us understand the beauty of translating the Bible. This presentation explores the challenges and significance of translating the Bible from Hellenistic Greek into modern languages. Emphasizing the value of the original text, it highlights common mistranslations in English versions and underscores the crucial role of ecclesial tradition in resolving hermeneutical dilemmas and assessing manuscript accuracy. All are welcome to the talk!
